Domestic models.

Many American flint muskets were converted to percussion from the late 1830’s- 60’s
when the percussion system was accepted by the War department of the US, and as a result of the Civil War.
This 1816 model was no exception.
This conversion is the type of work done by Colt.



These 1816 conversions, (1848), would have been carried by either Union militia, (and a few regular units), and
Confederate forces throughout the Civil War.


The lock is marked “HARPERS FERRY” & 1816.
Caliber is .69 smooth bore.
These are Pedersoli models.
Apart form the lock and breech, all other specs. are the same as the regular flint 1816 model.
